Black Bean Hummus


  • 2 16 oz cans of black beans, drained
  • 3 cloves garlic, roasted
  • 1/2 jalapeno chile, seeded
  • 1/4 small onion
  • 1 avocado, pitted, diced
  • 1/4 cup tomato, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp lime juice
  • 1 Tbsp cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • pinch salt
  • tortilla chips to serve with the hummus


  1. In a blender, add the beans, garlic, onion, salt, chile, lime juice and oil. Blend until you obtain a smooth puree. Add extra oil if composition is too thick, until the consistency is smooth.
  2. Spoon the mixture in a serving dish and top with avocado, cilantro and tomatoes. Serve on tortilla chips, pita or graham tortilla.
