
Homemade Marinara Sauce
It is easy to find a good store-bought pasta sauce, but when you have a little more time there is nothing like the homemade version. The fragrances waft through the house, preparing hungry stomachs for dinner. Using fresh tomatoes is always great and gives the sauce that special Italian pasta house feeling.
Ingredients
- 8 cups fresh tomatoes
- 1 large onion
- 5 cloves garlic
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1/2 cup red wine
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp basil
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
Directions
- In a large pot, saute onions in olive oil for 3 minutes and then add garlic and continue to saute for another 2 minutes.
- Then add the rest of your ingredients and stir for a few minutes.
- Once cooked, use an immersion blender to puree.
