Hummus in a Hurry


  • 15 oz can garbanzo beans, drained (reserving liquid)
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil


  1. In a blender, combine ingredients in order listed.
  2. On the lowest speed, blend the ingredients while slowly adding the reserved liquid from the can of garbanzo beans, until the desired consistency is reached.
  3. Serve with raw vegetables, crackers, etc.

  1. I was in a hurry to make this recipe tonight.
    I was going to add the olive oil and accidentally picked up the basalmic vinegar and added some. Luckily I hadn’t added the cumin, so I omitted it and used some kosher salt and then added the olive oil.
    It turned out great; it would be good on Italian bread with tomato and lettuce….
