Ingredients
- 2 Serrano chiles
- 2 large tomatoes
- 1 medium white onion
- 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
- juice from 1/2 of a lemon
- 1/4 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
Directions
- In a medium sauce pan over medium-high to high heat, boil the Serrano chiles, tomatoes, and white onion until the produce is softened. Remove from heat and remove from water. Let cool until cool enough to handle.
- Peel the skin off of the tomatoes and place the tomatoes in a blender with the onion, chiles, tomato sauce, lemon juice, sugar, salt, black pepper, and chopped cilantro. Pulse just until ingredients just barely become liquefied.
- Add some salt, if needed, to taste.
- Pour into mason jar or another container with lid. Let salsa set for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve with chips or another great item for dipping.
